SKYHALLOWEEN

Here are eight top picks for your Halloween movie night, each available (at time of writing) via Sky or Sky Store, and each perfect for different kinds of scary-mood...

1. Insidious: The Red Door (2023)

This is the fifth instalment in the Insidious franchise and sees the Lambert family once again plunged into the horrifying dimension known as The Further. The film revisits old trauma while bringing fresh scares, making it a solid choice when you want the supernatural, the jump-scares and the “what lurks in the dark” vibe. It’s listed on Sky Store.

Why it’s great: Horror rooted in family, fear and dark spaces - ideal when you want chills that linger.

2. M3GAN (2023)

This modern horror-sci-fi hybrid features a high-tech doll gone wrong. A toy-company roboticist builds M3GAN to be the perfect companion - and it turns deadly. It’s available via Sky Store.

Why it’s great: If you like horror with a dash of dark humour and social commentary (on AI, tech and obsession) this hits the sweet spot.

3. The Ring (2002)

A classic for good reason: watch a mysterious videotape and you’ve got seven days to live. Creepy, atmospheric and influential. It is available to stream on Sky/Now TV in the UK.

Why it’s great: Pure supernatural dread, minimal gore, maximum ‘look behind you’ tension. Perfect for a late-night spooky session.

4. Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

This gothic, lush adaptation of the vampire legend brings style, lurid visuals and old-world horror to the screen. Available on Sky Cinema.

Why it’s great: For when you want something atmospheric, romantic-horror, and a little more classic than jump-scares. A perfect Halloween mood-setter.

5. The Shining

Although I couldn’t locate a current exact Sky listing in my search results, this is such a Halloween staple it’s worth checking on Sky Cinema’s horror line-ups. Either way, if available, it’s unmissable.

Why it’s great: Featuring the iconic ‘here’s Johnny’ moment, psychological descent, claustrophobic setting and possibly the creepiest kids to ever grace a movie screen, when you want more than scares, when you want horror that lodges in your mind, it really doesn’t get much better than The Shining!

6. Knock at the Cabin (2023)

Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, this is a thriller-horror about a family held hostage in a remote cabin and forced into a desperate moral dilemma. Available on Sky Store / Sky Cinema.

Why it’s great: Tense, thought-provoking, and with horror built into moral horror rather than supernatural. Great for a group-watch with discussion afterwards.

7. Smile 2 (2024)

The sequel to the horror hit 'Smile', this one takes the premise further - disturbing visuals, jump-scares, psychological terror. While exact Sky availability may vary, the film is prominent in the horror conversation right now.

Why it’s great: For the modern horror fan who wants fresh, vivid scares and doesn’t mind being a little unsettled. Ideal if you want something less familiar and more current.

8. Nosferatu (2025)

A haunting, gothic retelling set in 1838 Germany where estate-agent Thomas Hutter journeys to Transylvania to broker a deal with the mysterious Count Orlok—only to unleash the vampire’s curse. Meanwhile his wife Ellen, tormented by visions, must make a harrowing sacrifice to save her town from plague and darkness.

How to Choose Your Movie Night Vibe

  • Classic horror lovers? Go for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, The Ring or Nosferatu.

  • Modern horror fans? Choose M3GAN or Smile 2.

  • Psychological/slow-burn? The Shining or Knock at the Cabin.

  • Supernatural jump-scares? Insidious: The Red Door.

  • Group watch? Pick something with discussion angle like Knock at the Cabin or Dracula.

  • Late-night solo chill? The Ring or Smile 2 will haunt you.

Tips for the Perfect Halloween Movie Night on Sky

  • Check your Sky Cinema channel and schedule for horror-themed blocks.

  • Use the Sky Store option to buy/rent if the film isn’t included in your subscription.

  • Dim lights, use good sound (horror works best when you’re immersed).

  • Avoid too many heavy films back-to-back unless you’re up for a horror marathon.

  • Use intermissions or talk breaks if watching with friends — share favourite scare moments.

Whether you’re aiming for classic chills (Dracula, The Ring) or new thrills (M3GAN, Smile 2), Sky gives you a solid selection of horror titles for Halloween. Mix and match depending on your mood: gothic, sci-fi, psychological or supernatural. Just make sure the lights are low, the volume is up - and you’ve got your Halloween night sorted - all with Sky Ultimate TV!

Happy haunting.
