An optical illusion throwback has resurfaced on Reddit, once again leaving people baffled as it shows a group of women sitting on a sofa - with a missing pair of legs.

If you saw this one the first time it went viral, you might have managed to figure out where the missing pair of legs are actually located.

But for many, it's still unclear and is causing a great deal of confusion all over again.

The picture appears to show a total of six women posing for a group photo on a sofa in what looks to be a pub - nothing particularly out of the ordinary.

However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that only 10 legs can be seen. This poses an obvious conundrum as there should be 12 legs in total between the six women.

Reddit users have debated amongst themselves where they believe the missing pair of legs to be and how it could appear that there are only 10, but it seems there are a wide range of theories.

One user wrote: "The second girl's legs are behind the first girl's legs", while another put forward a very specific theory: "Number one has her legs crossed, no tear in the knee. Number two has only one leg visible, the tear is in her knee. Those legs are blending together. (Follow that tear down, there’s a split where there’s a sock on the right and not on the left. Number two has a tear in her knee and a visible white sock).”  Another agreed with the first commenter, insisting: "The first girl is sitting over the second girl’s legs."

Optical illusions often divide the internet, with many either seeing complete different things or having unique theories as to what is going on to create the illusion.

Last month, a viral optical illusion which allegedly depicted either a mermaid or a fish left people perplexed as they could see neither, with many stating they could in fact see a donkey or a seal.

Celebrities chimed in on this optical illusion, debating with one another on Twitter.

And there was also the optical illusion of a cat either descending or ascending some stairs, which claims to have the power to determine whether somebody is an optimist or a pessimist.

Allegedly, those who perceive the cat as walking up the stairs are likely to be more optimistic in general, while those who perceive the cat as walking down the stairs are more likely to be pessimists.

We're unsure how true this is, but it certainly caused a stir...
