In a spot of good news, the BBC has confirmed that the drama, deception and dramatic roundtable speeches aren’t going anywhere…

Yep, The Traitors and its spin-off The Celebrity Traitors are going to be with us until at least 2030, meaning plenty more suspicious side-eyes and midnight betrayals are heading our way.

One of the biggest entertainment successes on UK TV in recent years, hosted by Claudia Winkleman (and her iconic fringe), in case you haven’t seen it, the series sees contestants attempting to figure out who among them is secretly sabotaging the group. Some players are ‘Faithfuls’, while others are secretly chosen as ‘Traitors’ whose mission is to eliminate their rivals without getting caught.

Since launching in 2022, The Traitors has turned into a full-blown TV phenomenon. Each season sees a group of contestants living together in a dramatic castle setting while competing in missions to build a prize fund, all while secretly plotting each other’s downfall.

And audiences can’t get enough of it. The latest series averaged around 12.5 million viewers across 28 days, while the celebrity spin-off proved just as popular, with its finale drawing a massive 15.4 million viewers.

Safe to say, the BBC isn’t ready to say goodbye to the castle just yet. Under the new agreement, fans can expect several more seasons of both versions of the show. The standard series is currently planned to run through series five to eight between 2027 and 2030, while new celebrity editions will continue alongside it.

That means the suspense-filled roundtables, dramatic banishments and late-night plotting sessions will keep returning to BBC One and iPlayer for years to come.

Part of the show’s magic is how unpredictable it is. One moment a contestant is confidently accusing someone at the roundtable, the next they’re dramatically voted out themselves. Add in clever twists, tense challenges and the occasional jaw-dropping betrayal, and you’ve got television that’s perfect for group chats, social media debates, memes - and shouting at the screen.

The setting doesn’t hurt either. The show is filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, the perfect backdrop for mystery, mind games and dramatic torchlit walks.

After the success of the main series, the BBC introduced the celebrity version in 2025. Instead of everyday contestants, famous faces take on the game, competing not just for bragging rights but also for money for their chosen charities.

The format stays largely the same: deception, deduction and plenty of suspicious glances across the breakfast table.

For fans, the renewal means one thing: the mind games are far from over. With new seasons confirmed for the rest of the decade, viewers can look forward to years of shocking twists, wild accusations and that inevitable moment when someone says, ‘I keep wondering, who’s keeping me in the game?’
