For anyone familiar with Reddit's 'FindTheSniper' thread, you’ll know all too well the countless hours that can be spent stubbornly refusing to give up on spotting a hidden figure in a photo.

And it seems like the forum has thrown up a real mind-bender in one of its latest posts, in the form of a sneaky dog hiding out in an outdoor scene.

Posted with a rating of ‘difficult’ by the user who submitted it, and captioned ‘find the spaniel’, even the most hardened ‘sniper spotters’ have been seriously struggling with this one.

Can you spot it?

As people struggled to make out the camouflaged canine, people began submitting tips to the thread.

“Most folks centre their subject in the frame so easiest to start in the centre and spread from there,” one person suggested.

A second person wrote: “Hahahaha. I was cursing out loud that there wasn't a spaniel in this photo and that OP was f'n with us. I eventually gave up and looked at the comments for a hint. I now can't UNSEE the spaniel. Good one and in 100 percent spirit of this sub. Well done!”

“He’s a sneaky little devil, it took me a little while,” a third person added.

If you’re still struggling, here’s a little hint for you - keep your eyes in the centre on the photo and slowly look left, you'll notice the brown-coloured pooch hiding in the branches.

And if that’s still not enough, we’ve circled it for you below:

And if you want another teaser to try and get your head around, we’ve got a couple more for you.

First up, you might remember this one from a while back, but it recently resurfaced on Reddit, once again leaving people baffled as it shows a group of women sitting on a sofa - with a missing pair of legs.

The picture appears to show a total of six women posing for a group photo on a sofa in what looks to be a pub - nothing particularly out of the ordinary. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that only 10 legs can be seen. This poses an obvious conundrum as there should be 12 legs in total between the six women.

Reddit users have debated amongst themselves where they believe the missing pair of legs to be and how it could appear that there are only 10, but it seems there are a wide range of theories.

One user wrote: “The second girl's legs are behind the first girl's legs”, while another put forward a very specific theory: “Number one has her legs crossed, no tear in the knee. Number two has only one leg visible, the tear is in her knee. Those legs are blending together. (Follow that tear down, there’s a split where there’s a sock on the right and not on the left. Number two has a tear in her knee and a visible white sock).” Another agreed with the first commenter, insisting: "The first girl is sitting over the second girl’s legs.”

And if you want to have a go at something that has been dumbfounding people for over 100 years - why not have a go at this riddle from the 1800s that has still never been solved…
