US Burger Restaurant That's ‘Better Than McDonald’s’ To Open First UK Store Tomorrow

While you’re probably not short of a place to grab a decent burger, there’s a huge new chain due to open it’s very first UK store tomorrow that many people believe do one of the best burgers going…

Californian burger chain, Carl’s Jr., is set to embark on a widespread expansion across the UK, with the first store opening in the St. David’s Shopping Centre in Cardiff on Thursday April 3rd, with a further 100 sites planned for the UK in the next four years.

Founded in 1941, the brand is known best for its ‘charbroiled’ burgers and currently boasts over 1,000 sites in 29 countries worldwide.

At the premier opening the store is promising the first 100 customers a free burger each, with David Moffat, country manager for Carl’s Jr. UK, saying: “We are thrilled to bring Carl’s Jr. to Cardiff, marking our first location in the UK.

“The team at BRG has been working hard to bring the Carl’s Jr. experience to the UK, and we can’t wait to welcome our first guests soon.

“We’ve seen incredible excitement from fans eager to try our food, and we’re confident our range of juicy 100% Angus Beef Burgers, Hand-Breaded Chicken Burgers and Tenders, as well as irresistible Ice-Cream Shakes will quickly become customer favourites.”

It’s not yet been confirmed exactly what will be on the menu when Carl’s Jr. hits the UK, but the brand has often prided itself for being a ‘hangover cure’.

Their hero item, the Famous Star, is available in the states as a single, double or triple and features the charbroiled all-beef patty, melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, slide onions, dill pickles, Special Sauce and mayonnaise on a seeded bun.

They also have a number of veggie options, breakfast burritos, chicken products and desserts like French Toast Dips.

The brand has been expanding its operations across Europe in recent years, where it now has more than 80 sites serving up Californian-inspired burgers, chicken sandwiches and milkshakes.

Users on X have often said that Carl’s Jr. is ‘better than Burger King and McDonald’s’, while Americans on Reddit told Brits they think of it as ‘the best national chain’ and it offers the ‘best of the fast food/drive-through burgers’.

“Carls JR is easily better than McDonald’s Burger King and probably most of the other American fast food chains you have currently in the United Kingdom,” one wrote.
