Expert Explains Why You Should Never Sleep On Your Front
You may need to change up your sleeping position...
PSA for those of you who love sleeping on your stomach - according to an expert, you may not be doing yourself any favours in the long run…
Yep, if you’re a fan of dozing off while lying on your front, it could be time to try and change your ways according to a spokesperson from bedding brand Levitex.
Along with your pre-bedtime routine (or bedmin as I like to call it) the position you sleep in is apparently an important part of maintaining a healthy mind and body.
And it turns out that laying on your front for extended periods of time can actually be an absolute nightmare for your back.
Demonstrating on a model wearing a muscle suit, the Levitex expert explains that when you lie on your belly, the muscles at the back of your upper legs have to extend in order to maintain the position.
It’s also not great for your neck muscles, with the expert adding: “None of you have ever watched TV like this, so why would you spend hours upon hours twisting your neck?”
But there’s more. The position also puts undue strain on your spine which will cause back problems 'very, very soon' if continued, he adds.
If you find that sleeping on your stomach really is the only way you can be comfortable, he advises that you stop using a pillow as this will relieve at least some of the pressure on your neck.

The video now has over four million views on TikTok with many people expressing their surprise at how bad for you the common sleeping position can be.
But this isn't the only tip offered by Levitex – in fact, its TikTok page is filled with all sorts of useful sleeping advice.
One video highlights how travel pillows are really not all they’re made out to be…
Speaking about the neck cushions, the expert said: "It's not going to support the 20 muscles and the seven tiny vertebrae in your neck.
“Try this hack to save you money and save space in your suitcase with the jumper that you're going to be coming home with because it's cold and miserable when you do.
“Fold it, roll it, wrap it round your neck, get an elastic band or a hair bobble, pin it together and now you have a beautiful neck cushion."
And as for your regular pillows apparently you need to be ditching the nice, big fluffy ones in favour of thin, utilitarian, supportive ones as they will support the curvature of your head and won't leave you with neck ache in the morning.
But that doesn't mean you need to throw away those old pillows, as the Levitex host went on to explain that you can wedge one between your legs if you're a side sleeper in order to maintain your posture!
