iPhone 16 Has 'Game-Changing' New Button That Android Has Had For Years
It’s not AI writing tools or voice transcription that have got people talking…
Following its release on Monday (September 9th) Apple's new iPhone 16 has been dominating tech news - but it’s not AI writing tools or voice transcription that have got people talking…
At the launch event in California, the tech giant unveiled its latest model, which comes in brand new colours - including white, black, ultra marine, teal and pink - as well as a host of new functions.
As well as the AI writing tools and voice transcribing (and new emojis), Apple CEO Tim Cook said it's the first iPhone 'designed from the ground up for Apple Intelligence' promising that it 'raises the bar for what an iPhone can do’.

With the help of Apple Intelligence, the new emoji function allows users to create their own emojis.
Apple explains: “Emoji will be taken to an entirely new level with the ability to create original Genmoji by simply typing a description, or by selecting a photo of a friend or family member.”
Other notable new features include aerospace-grade aluminium, 85 percent recycled content in the enclosure, spatial photos and a new ultra-wide camera.
However, the one feature that people have latched on to is actually one that Android users are very familiar with.
The 'camera control' shortcut - a new button on the side of the device - now gives iPhone users the ability to open and operate the camera with the touch of a button - which one user labelled a 'game changer'.
The new button can even be used for some other new features like taking a photo of a restaurant and then Apple Intelligence will look up the information for you.
However, Android users were quick to point out that their devices have had the camera shortcut feature for a while already. One person wrote: “Been double clicking for camera for 13 years on Android. Welcome to the 2010s.”
Someone else said: "Game changing'... Android for years.” While a third added: “Soooo yall got the same button I have on my Android for the last decade?”
Even Samsung users were getting in on the criticism, with one person adding: “Congratulations to all Samsung Galaxy users you've been living in the future. Apple clearly couldn't keep up the market trend anymore! Same phone new colours every few months!”
