Triplet Reveals She Is Four Years Younger Than Her Sisters
A TikTok user has explained how she is four years younger than her siblings, despite the three being triplets.
A triplet has revealed that she is actually four years younger than her siblings, leaving the internet both perplexed and intrigued.
TikTok user Shelby, whose account is @maximumstrengthpepto, recently shared a post explaining how she is four years younger than her sisters, despite being one of the triplets.
In a one minute video, the 28-year-old explained how, in the 80s, her parents had tried IVF back when it was pretty much a new concept after realising they couldn't conceive naturally.
She explains: "They mixed the sperm and the egg in a petri dish and they ended up with all these embryos. And so they implanted half of the embryos into my mom because they didn't want to implant them all and end up with like nine kids.
"So they implanted half, and that ended up being my twin sisters who were born in 1990. And then four years later they decided to unfreeze the other half but the doctor told my mom it would never work, 'cause they were frozen for way too long.
"But that ended up being me. I'm a miracle. Erm, so really me and my sisters are fraternal triplets that are separated by four years because we were all conceived at the same time in 1990.
"I was just, like, frozen on the planet for four years."
Yep, it's mindboggling but true.
It certainly isn't the only case of this kind, with ABC News reporting back in 2010 that a triplet had arrived 11 years after her twin sisters were born. All three were conceived in 1998.
But TikTok users were in awe of the phenomenon, with one commenting on Shelby's video: "Omg I've literally never thought of that...that's so crazy" and another adding: "You legit are from the past."
Others had some pressing questions for the triplet, with one user asking: "Okay but how does this work from an astrology perspective?" and another wondering, "Would that mean ur four years older than ur age?".
Believe it or not, Shelby's story isn't the only example of bizarre biological facts when it comes to twins. Earlier this year, we shared the story of twins Brittany and Briana Salyers who married another set of twins, Josh and Jeremy, meaning the couples' children are both brothers and cousins.
Since both of the boys' parents are identical twin siblings, they're genetically related to Brittany, Briana, Josh, and Jeremy.
Quaternary twins or quaternary multiples is the name given to the children of parents who are both identical twins; legally they are cousins but biologically they're closer to being siblings.
