If you’ve ever grimaced at the thought of handing over extra money for a tiny suitcase on a flight, you’re not alone. But one clever Cardiff woman has taken frugal travel to a whole new level – and we can’t stop applauding her money-saving genius!

Laura Poole, 33, recently managed to ship a month’s worth of business attire for the grand total of… wait for it… £2.59. Yes, really. The confidence trainer turned travel hack queen squeezed her clothes into a gym bag, popped that bag into a carrier bag, and dropped it off at her local Tesco Express InPost locker.

Her mission? A business trip from Bristol to Glasgow on February 22, where she needed at least five outfits, including suit jackets, trousers, and dresses – all without coughing up £30 in luggage fees. Thanks to her trusty parcel, she saved a whopping £27.41. Not bad for a Thursday evening effort before a Sunday morning flight!

The parcel arrived in Glasgow at a Tesco Express locker near her hotel. just after Laura touched down, proving that with a little planning, And when she shared her hack online, the internet promptly crowned her a 'genius'. Thousands of comments poured in, inspired by her resourcefulness and her Vinted-inspired parcel strategy.

Laura said: “I’ve always been really frugal. I’ve got better things to spend my money on than really expensive baggage fees.” And she’s no stranger to this clever workaround, having used it before and seen it work flawlessly.

Naturally, her post sparked a flurry of other money-saving travel tips. From stuffing clothes into a neck pillow to wearing cargo trousers with extra pockets, fellow travellers got inventive. But Laura’s approach stands out because it’s simple, low-stress, and keeps her professional wardrobe intact.

Of course, she didn’t send all her clothes – just the essentials for the month-long trip. Her cabin backpack carried two to three days’ worth of outfits, keeping favourites and irreplaceables close at hand. “I would not post anything that I loved. That stuff goes in my backpack,” she said. “If anything goes wrong, I’ve got time to buy new clothes.”

For Laura, appearance is part of the job. As a public speaker and trainer, looking polished is non-negotiable. And thanks to her clever packing, she managed to keep her professional wardrobe intact without breaking the bank. Suit jackets, dresses, trousers – all arrived ready to wear.

She plans to use the same strategy on the way home and has been blown away by the reaction to her post. “There are always trolls whenever anything goes that big, but overall I’ve never been called a genius so much in my life,” she laughed.

So, next time you’re weighing up whether to pay for baggage or not, take a leaf out of Laura’s playbook. With a little ingenuity, some careful packing, and a Tesco locker nearby, you too can turn a £30 luggage fee into a £2.59 win. Genius? We think so.
